Sony aims for an audience "younger" with PlayStation 3 from now

"I think from now going to see us directing the console to a considerably younger demographic."

Jim Ryan, one of the top executives of Sony Computer Entertainment in its European division, talked to the British magazine PlayStation Official Magazine straight from a change in strategy.

"I think from now going to see us directing the console to a younger demographic group significantly. A family market, but the hardcore gamer will not be sidelined at all," said Ryan.

"There will be a lot of great material for hardcore, but from our own studies, the third-parties also have interesting things in many areas that will allow us to open ourselves to a market that was very successful for PlayStation and PlayStation 2, but in the we have not yet immersed in PlayStation 3, "said the executive.

The reduction of price in the last GamesCom also be important to Sony. "If you look back at the history of PlayStation and PlayStation 2, the vast majority of businesses have done in these two platforms are held at a price point below 129 pounds. Now we have the 199 pounds in the UK a couple of months ago, so that you can see we have a lot of potential still ahead. "
